How to analyse questions. This is a practical workshop looking at the problems students have in understanding questions and therefore writing on topic and following academic conventions. I shall demonstrate how I teach students to analyse the question and at the same time plan for the essay. This method I have found allows students to understand that they know more than they think on any given topic and to write a concise essay accordingly. As many ELT teachers find academic writing a daunting challenge to teach I have found this approach helps both students and teachers alike. More
