Need For Teacher Education Programme

Teacher plays an active role in planning and managing the future of the students by developing the required skills, habits and attitudes, which will be retained over a lifetime of learning. The paper attempts to explore and throw light on some of the aspects that will help the teaching community to equip as full fledged professionals and contribute to the objectives of teaching. Teaching Education Programmes help the teacher to emerge as an efficient and competent professional. By applying vast expertise and demanding better results, the teachers as learners ca help to bring about a dramatic expansion of educational opportunities which will bring about a dramatic expansion of educational opportunities which will bring in a change in the quality at all levels . The teacher as learner aims to go beyond the ‘horizon’. As the great Tamil sage, Avvaiyar has rightly said that known is a drop, and unknown is an ocean!
