The Use of Local Dialect in Indian novels-Is It English?

Although English is considered a universal language today, a trend is seen among Indian writers to use Hindi or any other local dialect in their novels. Is it to create a national feeling? Or is it to bring some authenticity into the language? Or is it just because of some deliberate change in the streamlined way of writing? Whatever may the reason be, the outcome is that the novels are too Indian to give them an international outlook. But the Indian way of writing does not prevent the writers from moving ahead and this may puzzle the learners today about the genuineness of English language. More
