Teaching Language through Literature with Special Focus to Morrison’s Novels.

C.L Shilaja, Lecturer Sathyabama University

Language teaching through literature is based on the principle that literary works on art promotes motivation in the classroom .Literature can encourage in students an ability to infer meanings by interacting with the texts. As literary texts can stimulate language acquisition by providing contexts for processing and interpreting new languages. Literary Texts reflect a particular view that can benefit the learner. Works of Toni Morrison are rich in multiple levels of meaning providing students with a framework for sharing their feelings and opinion. Her novels have literal spaces in the narrative for readers to enter her texts and interpret them. More
