Newspapers as Materials in Teaching English Language Skills in the Classroom

In this paper an attempt has been made to show how Newspapers can be used as materials in teaching English language skills in the classroom. It is also shown how these materials will provide a contextualized way of approach. By using the newspapers as materials, the students at once feel at home because it is the more familiar and informative area which they like most. What ever may be the approaches and strategies one applies in the ELT Classroom but as materials Newspapers prove to be the most resourceful for the study of the language skills especially items like grammar and vocabulary.
