New Learning Technologies and Teacher Development

As a revolution to the conventional methods of teaching, new technologies are available to make teaching and learning English a profitable and enjoyable exercise. 3D animation, Electronic scripting, e-newspapers, Dictionaries accompanied with CDs, e-books, Laptops, Mobile phones, Online Video Conference, Telepresence, Virtual Keywords, Computers with Windows Media Player Software, Computers with Head Phones. Over Head Projector, Digital Video Camera, Microphone, Internet resources, English Softwares, DVD, Television, Audio cassette, Tape recorder are some of the latest technologies and devices available. All these help the teachers to develop their own ability to teach English to the students. Teachers professional ability is also considerably improved by the new technology. So it becomes mandatory for the present English teachers to explore new ideas and develop their knowledge about the available technology to keep the pace with the growing trends and instill the same into the students. Both the teacher and the learner need to be familiar with and feel comfortable about the technological devices.
