Communication is sharing of information or providing entertainment by speaking and writing. Probably the most important type of communication is personal communication which happens when people make their thoughts and wishes known to one another. Communication comes from the Latin word ‘Communis’ which means ‘common’. It requires two people: the sender and the receiver. Communication is perfect when the receiver understands completely what the sender wishes to convey. Language enables people to share knowledge, feelings and ideas. Without personal communication, parents would not know what their children need. Teacher would be unable to help the students learn. In fact without communication human beings probably cannot survive for long. The purpose of communication is to get your message across to others clearly and unambiguously. Good communication skills have become crucial in the information age we live in. In a world market that does business with diverse cultures and personalities, a good understanding of effective communications skills – written and oral – are in high demand.
